Information About Data Cleaning And Data Services

What Are the Benefits and Drawbacks of Quantitative Data?

Quantitative data can be just as valuable and harmful as any other thing.

Benefits of Quantitative data

These are the main advantages of working with quantitative data:

  • You can quickly collect quantitative data, which makes it possible to get large samples. The more accurate your conclusions, the larger the sample size. Bias is much less common in quantitative data. Random sampling is a technique that guarantees that data is representative and protects against bias. This is crucial for drawing reliable conclusions.
  • Objective analysis can be done on quantitative data.
  • Because quantitative data is compatible with mathematical rules, it can be used to perform statistical analysis. This helps to reduce the impact of biases on interpretations from analysts or researchers.

Quantitative Data Has Its Disadvantages

There are two main things to keep in mind when working with quantitative research data:

Quantitative data can lack context. In some cases, context is crucial. If you’re conducting a survey to find out how customers feel about a product, context is important. The quantitative data may indicate that 60% customers are unhappy with the product but it won’t reveal why. Sometimes, you need to dig deeper in order to gain valuable insights beyond the numbers.

There is always the chance of bias when using surveys and questionnaires. This applies to all research but is an important point to keep in mind when designing questionnaires and surveys. The way questions are written can introduce bias into research. Surveys should be carefully designed. This article will show you how to reduce survey bias.

Which Data Should I Use in My Research?

Now, we can distinguish between quantitative and qualitative data. Which type of research should you choose? This will depend on the type of project you are working on and the client. These guidelines will help you get started.

When a hypothesis or theory needs to be validated or confirmed, quantitative research is used. If the data can clearly be shown in numbers. A city census displays the total population, incomes and other relevant information.

Qualitative research can be used to help you understand a concept, experience, or opinion. It is possible that you are testing several experiences within your company and want to gather reviews over a set time period. This is qualitative research.

You need to use both quantitative and qualitative research.

City of Shreveport LA Information

Shreveport LA

Shreveport, Louisiana is a city. It is third in Louisiana’s most populous place, after New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Although the population of the metropolitan area of Shreveport–Bossier City is estimated at 393,406 in 2020 by 2020 census estimates, it is fourth in Louisiana. Caddo Parish is home to the majority of Shreveport. It is also the parish seat. It extends along the Red River’s west bank, most notably at Wright Island and the Charles and Marie Hamel Memorial Park. Although the United States Census Bureau’s 2020 population tabulation was for the city at 187,593, the American Community Survey’s estimates of the population were for 189,890.

History

Shreveport was founded to establish a town at the intersection of the Brown Bricks, and the Texas Trail. Captain Henry Miller Shreve led the efforts of the United States Army Corps of Engineers to make the Red River navigable. The Great Raft, a 180-mile (290 km) long natural log jam, previously blocked shipping. Shreve used the modified riverboat the Heliopolis to get rid of the log jam. Shreve Town and the company were both named after him.

Climate

Shreveport enjoys a subtropical humid climate. The area receives abundant rain, with an average annual rainfall of over 51 inches (1300 mm). Monthly averages range from less than 3 in. (76 mm) to more than 5 in. (130 mm). The area is prone to severe thunderstorms, including hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, during the spring and summer months. Winter months are mild with an average 35 days of below-freezing temperatures and possible ice or sleetstorms.

Demographics

Shreveport’s population was 1,728 at its 1850 U.S. census. It has seen significant growth to a historic high 206,989 at their 1980 census. The 2020 United States Census showed that there were 187.593 people living in the city. There were also 73.114 households and 42.775 families. The 2020 American Community Survey indicated that the city had an estimated 189.890 residents. This suggests a slight increase in population. According to the 2020 census, Shreveport was home to 75,680 households and an average household size of 2.4 people. The 39% of households were married-couple homes, while 44% and 40% of the female population had never married.

Transportation

The history of Shreveport reflects the need to have mass transit and roads. Residents used streetcars that were mule-drawn back in the 1870s. These cars were then converted to electric motorized cars in 1890. Shreveport’s commuter rail system flourished for decades. Rail car lines also extended to rural areas. Trolleys and rail cars were replaced by buses in 1930. However, motor buses didn’t replace all trolley service completely until the 1960s. The construction of Interstate 20 in the 1960s brought the Interstate Highway System to the region.

Top Businesses

Shreveport was once an important player in the United States oil industry. It could also boast Standard Oil of Louisiana as a local company. Standard Oil of New Jersey later acquired the Louisiana branch. Shreveport was home to United Gas Corporation, the nation’s busiest pipe operator and largest integrated oil company. Pennzoil was forced to merge in 1968 after a hostile takeover. The 1980s saw a severe economic downturn in the oil and gas sector. It had a major impact on the entire regional economy. Many companies lost jobs or closed their doors, including South Park Mall, a large shopping center that was located in South Park. This mall closed in the late 1990s. Summer Grove Baptist Church was able to adapt its major facilities for their use. This recession caused severe damage to Shreveport and many people fled the area.
