Information About Data Cleaning And Data Services
Data Accuracy
Accuracy simply refers to the accuracy of your data. This could be anything from your birth date to the accuracy of your bank balance, eye color, or geographical location. Data accuracy is crucial as it can have a significant impact on the analysis results and business decisions. Because accuracy cannot be measured against existing datasets, which are ‘gold standard’, it is difficult to measure.
Data Completeness
Data completeness is the extent of a dataset. Are you able to access the information necessary for your task? It can be difficult to find incomplete data. Let’s say you have a customer list but only half the surnames are present. If you want to list customers alphabetically, the dataset will not be complete. If you were only looking for geographical locators through customer dialing codes, surnames wouldn’t matter. It is not easy to correct incomplete data, as it is with data accuracy. It is sometimes not possible to determine missing information from the data that you have.
Data Consistency
Data consistency refers to the ability to match data coming from different sources. This determines your data’s reliability. You might encounter patients who have two different postal addresses or phone numbers if you work in a doctor’s office. These data can be inconsistent. Data consistency can only be achieved with smart thinking. Sometimes it is impossible to return to the source. You can determine the accuracy of data by looking at the most recent entries, or using another method to verify reliability.
Data Uniformity
Data uniformity refers to the measurement of units, metrics and so forth. Imagine combining two datasets on people’s weight. One dataset uses the metric system, while the other uses the imperial system. To make the data useful for analysis, all measurements must be identical. All measurements must be expressed in pounds or kilograms. It is possible to combine them all into one unit. This is a much simpler way to manage data quality. This does not necessarily mean that you have to fill in the gaps or determine accuracy.
Relevance of Data
Data relevance is a subjective indicator for data quality. It is a subjective indicator of data quality. Data relevance also includes timing. Are you able to access the data when you need it? Is it accessible to all? You will need the most recent information if you are required to report quarterly profits and losses to the Board. If you only have the data from the previous quarter, it is impossible to provide better insights.
Northwest Database Services has 34+ years experience with all types of data services, including mail presorts, NCOA, and data deduplication. If your database systems are not returning poor data, it is definitely time for you to consult with a data services specialist. We have experience with large and small data sets.
