What Are Some Examples of Big Data?
A look at real-world examples is the best way to learn about big data and how it is used. We’ll be briefly discussing some of the major industries that are using big data, and how they do it.
Big Data in Healthcare
Medical devices, electronic medical records, clinical research, and medical imaging all collect huge amounts of big data. Big data and big analytics are changing the way that healthcare providers treat patients. There are many important applications: analyzing lifestyle, genetic and social factors to predict and prevent certain diseases; using data for highly personalized medication and treatment plans (precision medication); detecting medication errors, identifying potentially dangerous adverse effects; monitoring disease trends to help develop effective health strategies. Recent research has shown that governments and healthcare providers are exploring the possibility of a track-and trace system to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Marketing and Advertising Big Data
A company’s knowledge about its customers is a key factor in tailoring their products and services to them. Big data analytics plays a significant role in marketing and advertising. Marketers and advertisers make use of big data to get a complete picture of their customers and their behavior, sometimes in real time. This allows them to identify when a customer is likely to “drop out” and offer them an incentive or offer at the right moment. Data also allows for better audience segmentation. Instead of offering one-size-fits all products or services, companies can customize almost everything to each individual. The most obvious example is the often-accurate advertisements that appear while scrolling through Instagram. Marketers can also use data analytics to manage their brand reputation and discover what people think about their products or services through sentiment analysis.
Big Data in Logistics, Travel and Transport
Consider how many times you use Google Maps or a similar app to help you navigate from A to B. Or how eagerly you track the package that you just purchased from Amazon. These are only a few of the many pieces of the big data puzzle that the travel industry has assembled. Big data can be used on a larger scale to predict and monitor traffic along busy routes, track goods in transit to ensure fast delivery times, and monitor weather conditions in real time to reduce risk (for plane travel, for instance). The development of self-driving cars will also be influenced by big data.
Big Data in Education
Education has been a standardized, one-size fits all approach for many years. With the advent of big data analytics and big data, educators can now tailor their education models and overall learning experiences to meet the needs of each student.

City of Toledo OH Information
Toledo is the county seat and city of Lucas County in Ohio, United States. Toledo, a major Midwestern United States port, is fourth in population in Ohio after Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus. It also ranks as the 79th largest city in the United States according to the 2020 census.
History
The Ohio state legislature approved the construction of the Miami-Erie Canal in 1824. In 1833, it was extended with the Wabash Canal and Erie Canal extensions. The canal was built to link Cincinnati with Lake Erie, allowing water transport to eastern markets. It also connects New York City via the Erie Canal or Hudson River.
Climate
As with most of the Great Lakes region’s climates, Toledo has a humid continental climate. It is characterized by four seasons. The climate is moderated by Lake Erie, particularly in the late spring and autumn, when temperatures are at their highest. This effect is diminished in winter, however, because Lake Erie, unlike other Great Lakes, often freezes. In addition, there are prevailing winds that are often west and summer winds that blow south and west above the lake, which bring heat and humidity into the city.
Demographics
The city had 287,128 residents as of the 2010 census. It is the capital city of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population 651,429. This was the sixth-largest metro area in Ohio, after Akron, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton and Dayton. The population of the larger Toledo-Fremont Combined Statistical Area was 712,373. The Toledo Metropolitan Council of Governments reports that the Toledo/Northwest Ohio region of ten counties has more than 1 million people.
Transportation
Three major interstate highways pass through Toledo. Interstate 75 (I-75), which runs north-south, provides direct access to Detroit and Cincinnati. The Ohio Turnpike is a route that connects east-west traffic along I-80/90. Through exits 52, 53, 64, 71 and 81, the Turnpike connects Toledo. The Turnpike links Toledo to Chicago in west and Cleveland in east.
Top Businesses
Toledo was a major port city on the Great Lakes before the industrial revolution. The city’s most prominent feature is industrial manufacturing. General Motors and Chrysler both had factories in Toledo. Automobile manufacturing has been an important industry since Kirk began manufacturing automobiles in the early 20th century. For most of the 20th Century, Toledo’s largest employer was Jeep. These well-paid jobs have been decreasing since the end of the 20th century due to industrial restructuring.
