Information About Data Cleaning And Data Services

Here Are Some Must-Read Quotes About Data

“With data collection, “the sooner the better” is always the best option.”

Marissa Mayer (IT executive, co-founder of Lumi Labs and former Yahoo! President and CEO

Marissa Mayer’s advice makes sense, given what we know about the advantages of data-driven businesses over their competition. The bottom line is that the earlier an organization collects data, the more they will be able to benefit from those insights and can then use those insights for smart decisions.

“Mistakes made with insufficient data are less common than those made with no data.”

Charles Babbage, mathematician and philosopher, as well as an inventor and mechanical engineer.

Quality data is the holy Grail, and this is what you should strive for. Charles Babbage reminds us that any data is better then none. This quote is especially relevant for businesses that are just starting to use data analytics. It doesn’t matter how much or little quality data you may have, it’s an essential starting point. You can then refine your data collection and make sure you have sufficient data for the future. Regardless of what you do, make sure to use the data.

“Where there’s data smoke, there’s business fire.”

Thomas Redman (aka “the Data Doc”)

This analogy explains, very well, the importance that organizations place on data analytics tools and experts to control their “data fires.” What does this all mean? This means that if a company doesn’t manage its data properly (that’s the smoke), it is indicative of larger problems within the organization (the fire). Organizations can run more efficiently by investing in the resources they need to store, retrieve, and use their data properly.

“Data can be used to enhance intuition.”

Hilary Mason is a data scientist and founder at Fast Forward Labs.

Hilary Mason’s quote highlights the importance of data analytics. Although algorithms and machines are capable of doing amazing things, real people are behind all of them. Data alone will not give you the answers you are looking for. It is important to have a sense of what questions you should ask and an intuitive understanding of what the data may be trying tell you.

“If you want to do data science, then learn about cognitive biases and how they can be corrected.

Hugo Bowne Anderson, Head of Data Science Evangelism and Marketing for Coiled

Hugo Bowne Anderson’s Twitter account contains a wealth of data science insights. This is only one example. Hugo has a lot of great advice about what it takes for a data scientist to succeed. In this quote, Hugo touches on cognitive bias. Data science is subjective, despite what you might think. It’s crucial to recognize your personal biases if you are working in this field or aspiring to.

Norfolk VA

Norfolk is a city in the United States that is its own. It was founded in 1705 and had a population 238,005 at the 2020 Census. This makes it the third-most populated city in Virginia, after Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, and the 94th largest city in the country.

History

Although Norfolk’s lands were among the first to attract settlers from Virginia Colony in 1619, it would not become a city until the 1700s. The House of Burgesses brought representative government to the colony, in 1619. Governor Sir George Yeardley split the colony’s developed area into four incorporated jurisdictions called citties. Elizabeth Cittie incorporation was responsible for the land where Norfolk is now located.

Climate

The following narrative is based upon climate data for the period 1991 to 2020. Norfolk is a subtropical climate with a USDA Hardiness Zone of 8a. The spring arrives in March, with cool nights and mild days. By late May, the temperature has risen significantly to bring on warm summer days. The summers are warm and humid. However, the Atlantic Ocean can have a cooling effect on daytime high temperatures but a warming effect on nighttime lows temperatures. This is in contrast to other areas further inland.

Demographics

The city had 242,803 residents, 86210 households, 51,898 families, and 242,803 inhabitants as of 2010. 4,362.8 people lived per square mile (1.684.4/km2). At an average density 1,757.3 per square meter (678.5/km2), there were 944,416 housing units. The city’s racial makeup was 47.1% White; 43.1% African American; 0.5% Native American; 3.3% Asian and 0.2% Pacific Islander; 2.2% from other races and 3.6% from more than one race. 6.6% of the population was Hispanics and Latinos of any race. Non-Hispanic whites accounted for 44.3% of 2010’s population, a drop from 68.5% in 1970.

Transportation

It has a long history of being a strategic transportation and military point. This is where many railroad lines were started. In 1890, Norfolk was the terminus for the Atlantic and Danville Railway. It is connected to its neighbors via an extensive network interstate highways and tunnels. There are also three bridge-tunnel structures, which are the most important bridge-tunnels in America. Before the company moved their headquarters to Atlanta in Georgia, Norfolk Southern Railway was headquartered here.
