Information About Data Cleaning And Data Services
What Is Dirty Data?
Dirty data is data that needs to be modified or altered before it can be analysed. There are many types of dirty data. This could pose a problem in your analysis. If you wish to analyse the relationship between these variables, data is needed for customer age and monthly purchase. If you don’t have customer ages, your data is incomplete.
Duplicate data refers to records that appear in the exact same dataset more than once. This can occur when data is merged from different databases or sources.
Inconsistent or inaccurate data – Data that has been out of date, or is prone to structural errors such as typos, inconsistency capitalization, or irregular naming conventions. Let’s suppose you have a set of student test scores. Some students are classified as Pass or Fail while others are classified as P or F. However, the naming convention makes them difficult to differentiate.
Before you can start the analysis phase in data analytics, there are many things to do. Cleansing “dirty” data can take two-thirds of the data analytics process. This refers to data that needs to be edited, worked on, or modified in some other way before it can become available for analysis.
Data analysts might discover outliers in “dirty data” during the cleaning phase. These outliers can be removed completely or used in another way. The question is, “What is an outlier?”
What Is an Outlier?
- Data analytics defines outliers as values that are significantly different from other data. They can be much larger or smaller. Outliers may indicate a variety in measurements, experimental errors, or a novelty. An example from the real world shows that giraffes are approximately 16 feet tall. Two giraffes stand 9 and 8.5 feet respectively, according to recent discoveries. These two giraffes have been deemed outliers in comparison to the rest.
- Data analysis results can be affected by outliers. These outliers may cause issues in data analysis results and should be addressed.
Data analytics should pay special attention to two main reasons why outliers are important:
Outliers can affect analyses
Analysts may need to be aware of outliers and their behavior to complete an analysis.
