History

Chesapeake is included in the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News metropolitan area. Chesapeake is one of the South Hampton Roads cities. U.S. Highways 13-17, 58, 460 and 460 serve Chesapeake. Interstate 64, part the Hampton Roads Beltway crosses the city. Interstate 464 is a spur that connects it to downtown Norfolk and Portsmouth at Berkley Bridge. Interstate 664 completes the Interstate loop, passing through Newport News and Chesapeake.
